A Teacher's Gift

“There are different kinds of gifts, but they are all from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve but the same Lord to serve.”
                                      1 Corinthians 12:4-5 NCV

God gives each of us a unique assortment of talents and opportunities. Do you make the best items for TPT or is your classroom the most vibrant, organized learning environment in your school? If the answer is “yes,” then you have a gift. Are you a teacher or a student teacher? If the answer is “yes,” then you also possess a variety of gifts. As teachers we possess the gifts of teaching, encouraging, and inspiring our students every time they walk through our door.

Our Heavenly Father instructs us to be faithful to the gifts that He gives us, but we live in a world that encourages us to do otherwise. Our society is filled with countless opportunities to waste our time, our resources, and our talents. We must be watchful for distractions and temptations that might lead us astray. What are your possible distractions this school year? God has blessed you with a unique opportunity to serve Him and He has given you EVERY tool that you need to do so. Are you willing to gather the discipline that is required to develop your talents and your skills?

As you seek to expand your talents each year in the classroom, you will undoubtedly encounter stumbling blocks along the way, such as the fear of rejection or the fear of failure. When you do, don’t stumble! Just continue to refine your skills and offer your services to God. Today, value the talent that God has given you, nourish it, make it grow, and share it with the world and especially your students. After all, the best way to say “Thank You” for God’s gifts is to use them! I wish you all the best as many of you return to your classrooms this week and I pray that you too will use your wonderful gifts to serve God. :)

  1. Thanks for this lovely post! I know teaching is a gift from God! While I was unemployed, I did a lot of reflection on my past years of teaching. I really hope I've worked through the things I messed up on and I am determined to do everything for His glory!
As far as distractions this year, my biggest one will be getting used to all the different grade levels I'll be teaching as well as keeping up with it all. But I am excited and I believe this will be a great year! Sorry I've been so wordy...thanks again for sharing!

    1. Thanks for sharing Cheryl! I believe my biggest challenge this year will be a common one... will I have a job when I do graduate? I honestly believe that teaching is my gift that God has given me and he will provide me a job where I can share my gift each day. Thanks again for sharing! :)
